Deer Creek Willow Planting
May 5 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Join us at the recently restored Upper Deer Creek fishing access site for some willow planting. Willows anchor streambanks and filter runoff, while also providing shade for fish and habitat for wildlife. They provide a vital riparian buffer between native flora and the river.
We will be joined by our partners from the Custer Gallatin National Forest and Trout Unlimited, and volunteers will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty and their feet wet with this field-based restoration project. We plan on being out most of the day, so plan on bringing layers, rain gear, snacks, and plenty of water. Willow planting is hard work, so be prepared for some physical labor.
