A healthy Gallatin River for future generations

Who We Are

The Task Force is driven by one simple ambition: to make sure the Gallatin River flows with cold, clean, abundant water—now and forever.

What We Do

The Task Force ensures the health of the Gallatin River by monitoring water quality, educating residents and visitors of the Big Sky community, and implementing conservation and restoration projects to address threats to river health.

Today’s Task Force grew out of humble beginnings in 2000, and received 501(c)3 status four years later. In 2015, the Task Force changed its name, refocused its mission, and expanded its programs in a way that makes the organization a vital part of the Big Sky community.

The Task Force is governed by nine board members representing diverse perspectives within the Big Sky community. Board members serve without pay and cover their expenses to attend monthly meetings and committee meetings.

Paid Staff and Volunteers

The Gallatin River Task Force consists of five paid staff members, two AmeriCorps members, and over 200 volunteers.
